One of my musical idols has left us. Neil Peart was the engine that propelled superstars Rush from 1975 onward. Only 67 years old, his passing hit me like a bolt of lightning. Always a private person, no one in the general public was even aware that he had been battling Brain Cancer for the last three years. In fact, Peart passed away on Tuesday, January 7th, and it was not announced until today, January 10th.
There isn’t much I can say that hasn’t been extolled about this man before. I simply felt compelled to put up this short montage, set to the music The Sphere (A Kind of Dream) from the band’s 1978 album Hemispheres.
Thanks for the music, thanks for the inspiration. Rest In Peace.
